These are the key checks you need
We use Facial Recognition technology to reassure you that your candidate is who they saw they are using a Driving Licence, Passport, Biometric Residence Permit or EU ID Card. This can be used independently or combined with our Right to Work Audit which also captures relevant proof of Right to Work documents.
FITNESS TO WORK
Work health assessments are to help prevent work-related illnesses, injuries and the spread of disease or infection. They refer to a variety of processes undertaken by schools to health screen staff to assess whether they are capable and fit to undertake a role.
STANDALONE CHILDREN'S BARRED LIST
This check is for schools where the employee has an existing DBS certificate issued for a previous and similar role.
Where an applicant meets all of the portability criteria, there is no requirement to obtain a new DBS check.
OVERSEAS CRIMINAL CHECK
DBS checks are required for all school employees or volunteers who engage in regulated activity with adults or children. If you aren't sure which checks you need use the eDBS decision tool here. Candidates that have spent more than 6 months overseas during the last 5 years also need an overseas police check.
QUALIFIED TEACHER STATUS (QTS)
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a qualification awarded by the National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) when a person can prove that they meet all of the teachers' standards and criteria. QTS is required in England to teach in a state school that is under local authority control and in special schools.
REFERENCING AND WORK HISTORY
Schools have a duty of care to both staff and pupils to ensure that all reasonable checks are undertaken for any given role. Work history and reference checks allow schools to verify information already provided by an individual as part of their application. We chase the referees if needed and provide Academic References.
